Slumdog Millionaire Tamil Version Screens Today

Naanum Kodeeshwaran, the Tamil version of multiple Oscar award-winner Slumdog Millionaire, directed by Danny Boyle, will hit the screens on Today with 100 prints across Tamil Nadu, its distributors Falcon Films said in a press statement on Thursday.Actors Silambarasan, Radha Ravi and ace singer-actor S.P. Balasubramanian have lent their voices to the characters played by Dev Patel, Irrfan Khan and Anil Kapoor respectively. Continue

Dev Patel , the lead star of multiple Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is planning to appear on the real ’Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?’ show along with director Danny Boyle in a bid raise money for street children. The 18-year-old Patel played a Mumbai slumdweller Jamal in the rags-to-riches story which depicts the extraordinary journey of the protagonist from oblivion to fame and fortune as he goes on to win USD 20 million on the Indian version of ’Who wants to Be A Millionaire?’.

After just a film or two, young film stars are charging the earth for endorsing brands.Slumdog Millionaire ’s Freida Pinto, who is believed to have bagged a role in Woody Allen’s next, may see her brand endorsement fee rise nearly four-fold to nearly Rs 1.5 crore from a mere Rs 40 lakh that she charged earlier. Genelia D’Souza and Imraan Khan, who starred in the hit Jaane Tu Ya Jane Na, and Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, the cornerstones of Pepsi’s Youngistaan campaign, are already demanding between Rs 1 crore and Rs 4 crore.

’Jai Ho’ has won an Oscar for A.R. Rahman and Gulzar, hence making India proud. While the entire country is singing the song and Sukhwinder Singh, the man who originally sung the number behind the mike, is basking in its glory as well, there is a man who is missing out on all the action. He goes by the name of Vijay Prakash, who is incidentally one of the four singers that were roped in by A.R. Rahman for the song, the other two being Tanvi Shah and Mahalaxmi Iyer.
