Ameer has been issued an ultimatum by the Madras High Court for the submission of bank guarantees worth Rs. 50 lakhs within four weeks.

Failing which, the court warned that Ameer’s immovable assets will be confiscated. Earlier, producer Gnanavel Raja filed a petition in the High Court alleging that Ameer owes him Rs. 1 crore incurred by him during the production of Paruthiveeran. Raja also sought to halt the release of Ameer’s Yogi.

Akshay Kumar is planning a big charity event to raise funds to build an old age home in Toronto in 2010 with the help of his friend Ajay Virmani who’s a businessman.

Akshay has been associated with various charity events in Toronto. He told his best friend, businessman Ajay Virmani — who owns Cargojet Airways, the largest Canadian cargo airlines — that he wanted to host a fundraiser to build a home for senior citizens. "Talks are on and the charity event will be held some time early next year. Akshay wants it to be a place for the elderly to feel at home."

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has received compliments for his performance in "Paa", wants veteran actor Dilip Kumar and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to see the movie.

Smelling ginormous business opportunity for visually spectacular films in India, Fox Star Studios India decided to release James Cameron’s magnum opus Avatar in a big way, with a whopping 700 prints in English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil on the 18th. Their estimations came true, when, by the weekend, the film reportedly grossed an unimaginable Rs. 22 cr. for a Hollywood film in the country. For a long time Kamal Haasan wanted to make his mentor K. Balachandar a hero. He even had a pucca script ready for his guru. But KB sir wasn’t interested to come in front of the camera when Kamal wanted then.

Bollywood director Ram Gopal Verma has a new job. He along with the team of the upcoming film "Rann" are editing a 10-page daily newspaper called Rann Times as a way of promoting the film.

Like any daily, Rann Times, which was launched Friday, will carry news on politics entertainment, sports and social activities.

The paper, which will be distributed in 500 multiplexes across the country, will have a circulation of 300,000, its promoters claim.
