The Tamil film industry’s Pasa Thalaivar Parattu Vizha to thank the Chief Minister for his largesse to the film industry was a grand starry affair at a packed Nehru Indoor Stadium.The function was graced by CM, his family members including Kanimozhi and Udayanidhi Stalin, Ministers and Amitabh Bachchan who was the special invitee from Mumbai.It was an evening of song, dance, drama and poetry which caught the imagination of the audience.
Lekha Washington mesmerized the young souls with her skimpy costumes as she appeared in SS Music Channel. Now with her transcended career into film industry, Lekha has no ideas about getting back to small screen ventures.
Says Lekha: ‘I had to continuously reject many offers in Kollywood since; the directors kept approaching me with similar roles of a sister. I am not here to be only sister, but as the film’s heroine as well.’

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was magnanimous and has virtually put an end to Jayaram’s derogatory remarks about Tamil women in reference to his maid.
A day after members of Naam Tamizhar attacked his house, Karunanidhi in a bid to cool down tempers said “since Jayaram has tendered an unconditional apology, there should not be any further controversy over it. Let us remember CN Annadurai’s words – forgive and forget.”
However the Chief Minister made it clear that if Jayaram had spoken about Tamil women in such derogatory manner it was highly condemnable.

The highlights of the evening were the song and dance performances by Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara, seen for the first time together in public. Prabhu Deva’s Michael Jackson number and mix of songs of various regions got a huge applause. Tamannaah’s solo dance number was truly classy and mesmerising.

African villagers have claimed they are being forced to relocate to give way to a new school in Malawi funded by Madonna’s Raising Malawi charity.
As many as 200 villagers were being shifted from their ancestral land and claimed they were being poorly compensated by the Queen of Pop, who agreed to pay 70,000 pounds in damages.
“My sisters and I inherited this land from our parents, whose parents have been here for over a hundred years. How can I get only K200,000? (850 pounds)” the Daily Express quoted one unhappy villager, Amos Mkuyu, as saying.

Activists of a pro-Tamil outfit on Friday allegedly attacked Jayaram’s house at Valasaravakkam in Chennai, protesting the actor’s comments on a Malayalam television channel on his domestic help, who is a Tamil.
They damaged furniture and a car at Jayaram’s house. Police personnel posted at the place chased and apprehended eight of the accused persons. The attack took place even as the actor expressed regret for his remarks saying that they were made in a lighter vein.

Ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan’s project Ceylon is believed to have been shelved.
Santosh Sivan, the internationally acclaimed south Indian film maker earlier announced that he will make a film ‘Ceylon’ based on the situation in Sri Lanka. The movie was to be based on the country’s internal conflict and the plight of Tamils displaced by war. He had also said that he will start the film by November after completing Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’ as a cinematographer.
