It is a period films. It is set in pre-independence era. The hero, with a well-built physique, dares his enemies. Well, we are not talking about Aamir Khan ’s Lagaan, but about Madarasapattinam, the Arya starrer. No exaggeration it would be to say that promotional stills of the movie are making waves in Kollywood. Says the film’s director Vijay, ‘Madarasapattinam is a straight contrast to my earlier two ventures- Kireedam and Poi Solla Porom. It is about a Chennai, sorry Madras youth, his love affair, his struggle and much more.’
The filmmaker adds: ‘We are bringing back the old Chennai on screen. You will see boats making their way in Buckingham Canal, a Mount Road full of greenery sans traffic and sky-high buildings. Producer Kalpathi S Aghoram has given us complete freedom with no restriction on budget s’.
