Reigning Vidya Balan, who made a name for herself in Bollywood with her sensitive portrayal in Parineeta, Munna Bhai MBBS, Paa and the recent Ishqiya, is all set to make her debut in Malayalam.
Born in Palakkad, Kerala, Vidya Balan will be seen opposite none other than Malayalam superstar Mammootty in Mathilukalkkappuram to be directed by Prasad. The director had reportedly finished the script a couple of years back.
Produced by Mammootty’s newly launched production company Play House, Mathilukalkkappuram would be a continuation of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer’s famous novel from which renowned director Adoor Gopalakrishnan made Mathilukal (1989). Camera is by Ravi K. Chandran, while sound direction is by Oscar winner Resul Pookutty. The shooting will begin soon.
