Aamir Bollywood Actor

Busy Bee Aamir Khan was present at the DVD launch of the critically acclaimed film Amu. Konkona Sen Sharma, who plays the lead, was present alongside the perfectionist, basking in the glory of his compliments. The English film has won many national and international awards since release. Aamir was impressed and truly touched by the concept. He said, “I would like to congratulate the entire team of Amu. It is certainly a very dramatic and heart-wrenching film. It’s a film that reminds you of the value of human life.” Based on the 1984 anti-Sikh riot, the film is indeed quite sensitive.

Ask Aamir if he intends to make a film on similar lines, and he says, “I will make all kinds of film. It just depends on the script.” He also made his stance clear that, for him, there is no distinction between art and commercial cinema. He said, “What is Taare Zameen Par? Is it an art film? If yes, then let me tell you it did business of over 131 crore. For me, it is just cinema.” He also denied allegations that the film worked because of his superstar status. “A star can only pull you to the theatre for the first three days. Then, success happens on the basis of the film. There are so many films with stars that don’t work.”

Konkona made her pleasure evident at the event. She said, “I am very happy and extremely proud that Amu’s DVD was launched by Aamir. It is one of my favourite films. It is also quite an important film. I want a maximum number of people to watch it. However, since it received an A certificate, it will never be shown on television.” She also made her disapproval felt at the segregation of films into art and commercial. “I choose films that are well thought out and have some meaning. I don’t take films that are made just to make money and have no creative impetus behind it.
