Cheran’s Pokkisham is going to be remade in Hindi soon. ’The response I got after the movie was screened at the Mumbai International Festival was overwhelming. A lot of producers walked upto me and offered assistance to come out with a Hindi version of the Tamil hit,’ the filmmaker said in an interview.
’When a movie is made for commercial success by some one else, the soul of the movie is missing. Therefore, the same person, who is well-versed with the tone and texture of the original version should also make it in other languages,’ he said.
’A case in point is my movie Autograph. Though it was a huge success in Tamil, its Telugu version, made by some one else, did not do well at all. Also, it did not appeal to the people as it was a frame-to-frame copy,’ Cheran said.
