Noted Malayalam director-cinematographer-screenwriter Amal Neerad, former cinematographer of Ram Gopal Varma, debuted as an independent director in 2007 with the Mammootty starrer Big B, followed by Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded (2009).
A product of Calcutta SRFTI Film Institute, Amal is now all set to debut in Tamil as director with the remake of I.V. Sasi’s super hit Malayalam film Mrigaya (1989), which will have hot and happening star Suriya playing the lead role.
Suriya will be playing the role of Varunni, a leopard hunter, which was brilliantly portrayed by Mammootty in the original and even got him a State award. Suriya was recently in Kerala to have a discussion with Amal and has confirmed his participation in this film.
