Yes! But it is a dubbed film. Chingaari, the film for which Sushmita Sen garnered international acclaim, is being dubbed in Tamil as Peyar Sandhya, Thozil Dasi. Produced and directed by eminent Bollywood filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi, Chingaari speaks about the exploitation of a sex worker by a village priest. Kalpana Lajmi, famous for making films that touch upon several social issues, has also directed the critically acclaimed Hindi film Rudaali. Though several beauty pageant winners are very keen to act in Tamil films, Sushmita Sen has been a distant dream for Kollywood. We hope to see this beautiful and powerful performer in a Tamil film soon.
