Suriya is easily one of the most sought-after actors in Kollywood. His performances in a variety of characters has alerted the industry to his talent and it’s no wonder every top director is vying to cast Suriya in his movie. Suriya’s latest offering Aadhavan may have received mixed reviews from the public, but his charisma and Harris Jayaraj’s music have carried the movie forward. As of yesterday, the movie completed its 50th day in theatres across Tamil Nadu for reasonably good audiences.
Movie: Aadhavan
Director: K.S.Ravikumar
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Cast: Suriya, Nayanthara, Rahul Dev, Murali, Saroja Devi
If laughter is the best medicine along with mass masala items, then veteran director KS Ravikumar has earned his stripes again with Aadhavan. Add Suriya, who looks sensational in a role that has negative shades and lots of comedy. The actor manages to pump some clean fun and make it the ideal family entertainer for Diwali.
The wafer-thin storyline depends more on Suriya’s star power to cruise through two hours and 45 minutes. Aadhavan (Suriya) is a hired assassin who works in tandem with Ibrahim Rowther (Sayaji Shinde) and his son (Anand Babu) in Kolkata. Justice Subramaniyam (late Malayalam actor Murali), is about to give his final judgment in an organ trade case where hundreds of children died due to the greed of a doctor, Abdul Kulkarni (Rahul Dev).
Aadhavan, a complete family entertainer with all elements including comedy, romance, dance, action, sentiments and style is gearing up for a big release this weekend in USA. With less than two days for the release, Suriya’s fans are eagerly waiting to celebrate the occasion of watching their star on the big screen. With all his previous movies making it really big in US, Aadhavan is gearing up to make it even bigger.
Taj Banjara recently hosted the audio release of "Ghatikudu", the Telugu version of Suriya’s Aadhavan . The event saw a huge turn out of celebrities including Suriya, KS Ravi Kumar, Chandana Ramesh, Sanam Naga Ashok Kumar, Chandana Nageswar, Udayanidhi Stalin, Shanmukha Sastri, VV Vinayak, Kalyani, Kumar Babu and Chaitanya Raju.
Suriya is not missing out on any chances to be with his family. He’s currently busy shooting for the Hari directed Singam in Thirunelveli. Suriya is not alone, however. Jyothika and his darling daughter Diya are accompanying him.
After two consecutive hits Vaaranam Aayiram (Suriya s/o Krishnan in Telugu) and Ayan (Veedokkade in Telugu), versatile and successful actor Suriya is now getting ready with his next film Aadhavan, being directed by K.S. Ravikumar with Nayantara as heroine. In a latest development, we hear that the Telugu version of Aadhavan has been titled Ghatikudu.
B-town is flooded with Southies now a day’s, when Vikram is busy with ‘Ravana’, his close pal Suriya isn’t far behind. The latest we get to hear about Suriya is that he is preparing for his Bollywood debut during his leisure times. But no, he is not physically working out but, he is getting trained academically.
Not the one to shy away from makeovers, Suriya is on it again. After his lean mean look in Ayan, he is seen sporting a beefcake look for the Hari directed Singam in the promotional stills.
Besides, Suriya also sports a ‘Handlebar’ moustache quite popular among the policemen in Tamil Nadu.
Looks like Suriya is trying to walk in the path of Kamal Haasan by taking up a variety of roles and donning challenging get ups. Remember Varanam Aayiram where he played an old man and a teenager?
Well, looks like he’s taken that a little further with Aadhavan. At the audio release of the movie, director K.S. Ravikumar was all praise for the hard work the actor put in to pull off the 10-year-old look!
Directed by KS Ravikumar, ‘Aadhavan’ is Suriya’s next film after his ‘Ayan’. ‘Aadhavan’ will feature Suriya with negative shades who woos Nayantara.
The film that kick-started in the month of February is ready to launch its music on this August 19th. The audio of this movie produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin on behalf of Red Giant Movies will be released by director Shankar and received by Sri. Rama Narayanan. Versatile actor Mohanlal will also grace the function among other VIPs of the industry. The music album of ‘Aadhavan’ has six songs, which are composed by Harris Jayaraj.
Suriya is gearing up for his next projects and continues to make headlines with Ayan! Many southern films are being remade in Bollywood. Recently, Vellithirai was released as Short Kut – The Con is On and several more are already in progress. It is heard that Ayan (Veedeokkade in Telugu) is also to be remade in Hindi.
Ayan, termed as the biggest Kollywood hit of 2009, has elevated Suriya and Tamannaah (the lead actors) to a different league! As a result, the collection was very strong from the release date and the makers are happy the film has done well, capturing the attention of the classes and the masses!
Villains earlier had a patent to look scary and gruesome. Their appearance on screen would make viewers clutch the hands of the person sitting next to them. These hated villains used to send shivers down our spines and gave some nightmares! But now, villains also are fast changing. Many directors are now casting handsome young men in negative roles. Some of these sauve polished villains include Prakashraj, Rahul Dev, Arjun Rampal, Karthik Kumar and even some well-known heroes like Suriya and Vijay who are willing to experiment with negative shades, without bothering much about their current image!
Ayan directed by K V Anand is turning out to be a hit with good reviews coming in from all directions. Following this success, the film is all set to be dubbed and released in Telugu as ‘Veedu Okkatte’. The announcement to this effect happened recently in Hyderabad at a function which was attended by Suriya and other important dignitaries associated with the film.
