Trade pundits predict, the day is not far when Bollywood will be churning out films at the rate of Rs 100 crore per project. Top filmmakers and actors too are opting for co-productions with big banners. Akshay Kumar, Sohail Khan, Madhur Bhandarkar, Shah Rukh Khan and even Hrithik Roshan have joined the bandwagon. Here’s a list of some of the costliest films all set to hit the screens sometime soon…

Veer

One of the hottest projects is Salman’s Veer, and according to trade circles, producer Vijay Galani has got an offer of Rs 150 crore for the worldwide rights.

London Dreams – Studio 18

Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan’s London Dreams has been sold to Studio 18 for a record Rs 120 crore. This Vipul Amrutlal Shah project was sold at the announcement of the film, even before it went on the floors. The film has been produced by Paramjeet Singh and also stars south Indian actress Asin in the lead role.

Kites – Eros International

Hrithik Roshan’s Kites was to be sold to Eros International for a record Rs 120 crore, but its producer Rakesh Roshan wanted an increase in the price and the deal failed to take off. Anurag Basu will direct the film, which stars Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut. According to trade sources, the movie is being made on a budget of Rs 60 crore.

Sohail Khan Production – UTV

Sohail Khan Production has signed a Rs 110 crore with UTV for three films. The first one is Main Aur Mrs Khanna which will be directed by debutant Prem Soni. Made on a budget of Rs 40 crore, the film stars Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Sohail Khan and the music is by Sajid-Wajid.

The second film, to be directed by Puneet Sira, is Kisaan. Made on a budget of Rs 15 crore, this film has Jackie Shroff, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Dia Mirza, Nauheed Cyrusi and Dalip Tahil.

The third film will be made on a budget of Rs 45 crore. The cast has not been finalised except for Salman Khan, who is supposed to play the lead.

Madhur Bhandarkar – UTV

Three times National Award-winner Madhur Bhandarkar has signed a three-film deal with UTV but doesn’t want to disclose the figure. Madhur’s Bhandarkar Entertainment and UTV will jointly produce these films. The first production Fashion is almost complete, and according to the buzz, it is one of the costliest films made in Bollywood so far.

Madhur Bhandarkar – Percept Pictures Company

Bhandarkar Entertainment has also signed a four-film deal with Percept Pictures Company. The first production will be Jail, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh. The film is set to go on the floors in December 2008.

Karan Johar – Yash Raj Films

A more-than-a-decade-old relationship between Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra has been kept alive with Karan selling the world rights of Dostana to the Chopras for Rs 50 crore. Karan had received big offers from two top corporate houses – Studio 18, which offered him Rs 60 crore and Eros International, which offered him Rs 55 crore, both of which the director refused.

Dostana will be directed by Karan’s assistant Tarun Mansukhani and stars Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty and Bobby Deol.

Neil Nitin Mukesh – Yash Raj Films

Neil Nitin Mukesh and Emraan Hashmi have signed three-film deals running into several crores. Neil has got Rs 7 crore for the deal with Yash Raj. Well, it seems the actor has arrived!

Emraan Hashmi – Percept Pictures Company

Apart from Yash Raj Films, Emraan Hashmi has also signed a three-film deal with Percept Pictures Company after the success of his last film Jannat. He will get Rs 9 crore for the film.
