Music directors, nowadays, are keen on having the film heroes croon to their music. Though this is an age-old trend, which was put in cold storage for a few decades, it is being revived by the current generation of music directors.
The latest to join the bandwagon is Devi Sri Prasad. He had Vikram sing all the songs in Mallanna/Kanthaswamy and has made the album a real success. In fact, songs rendered by the heroes tend to give the film that extra leverage during publicity.
Devi Sri Prasad intends to repeat the magic in the Hari-directed Tamil Singam. Yes, he is in talks with Surya to have him sing a song in his composition. Surya is also said to give the go ahead.
